Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Help a Human ("we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use Help a Human (the "Platform"). By using the Platform, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account & campaign information you provide: name, email, password, your story, photos, payment-method handles, needs, updates, and similar content.
- Donation information: donor name, email, amount, message, and whether you chose to be anonymous. For card payments, payment details are handled by our payment processor — we do not store full card numbers.
- Usage information: pages viewed, links clicked, referral source, approximate device/browser information, and a hashed (non-reversible) form of your IP address for security and analytics.
- Communications: messages you send us and emails we exchange.
2. How we use information
- To operate the Platform — create and host Campaigns, process and confirm donations, send thank-yous, receipts, and reminders.
- To provide referral features, leaderboards, and campaign statistics.
- To prevent fraud, enforce our Terms, and keep the community safe.
- To send transactional and service emails. We send these through our email provider (e.g., Mailgun).
3. What's public
Campaigns are public by nature. Your display name, story, photo, progress, and approved vouches/recommendations are visible to anyone. Donor names and messages may appear on a Campaign's supporter list unless the Donor chooses to be anonymous. Do not post information you want to keep private.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- with service providers who help us operate the Platform (payment processing, email delivery, hosting), under obligations to protect it;
- with the Recipient of a Campaign you donate to (e.g., so they can thank you), and with referrers as part of referral features;
- when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of the community or the Platform;
- as part of a business transfer (e.g., merger or acquisition).
5. Cookies & tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies for sign-in sessions, security (including CSRF protection), and basic analytics. You can control cookies through your browser, but some features may not work without them.
6. Email choices
We send transactional emails (receipts, thank-yous, reminders, account notices). Recurring-support reminders include a one-click link to stop them. You can contact us to update your preferences.
7. Data retention & security
We keep information for as long as needed to operate the Platform and meet legal obligations, then delete or de-identify it. We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, but no system is perfectly secure.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To make a request, email hello@helpahuman.io. You may also delete your campaign data from your dashboard or by contacting us.
9. Children
The Platform is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
10. Changes
We may update this Policy; material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
